About

Diego, age 7, is diagnosed with High Functioning Autism.  He is a happy, clever and imaginative little boy.  After years of therapies, dietary interventions and Special Education services through the public school system we have found ourselves on a new amazing journey.

In November 2012 Diego and I started the GAPS Diet to heal his gut.  I promised him that I would do the diet with him as long as he was on it.  I have seen an increase in mental clarity and more energy since starting GAPS and can only imagine what kind of healing is going on in his little body.

In late December 2012 I contacted the Autism Treatment Center for more information on their Son-Rise Autism treatment program.  We initiated our own lifestyle Son-Rise Program 30 minutes a day in his room.  After seeing an increase in eye contact and calmness I traveled to the Autism Treatment Center in Sheffield, MA for training on initiating a full Son-Rise Program.  In March I withdrew Diego from school to homeschool and work (ok, play) with him 2-3 hours every day focusing on social interaction.  Our efforts will eventually leave us with a typical boy.  For now, we are enjoying and loving each other and playing LOTS of imaginary dragon games!

The Son-Rise Program sequence has three week long training courses.  I traveled to the Start-Up in February.  Since initiating our Son-Rise program in March in a distraction free play room Diego’s eye contact has tremendously improved.  He looked at me more last month than his entire seven years previously.  I am traveling to the Maximum Impact training this month.

Two New Frontiers courses will be offered this year.  I hope to make it to one of them to improve our home based Son-Rise program.  However, these classes are expensive.  Please consider donating whatever you can to help with the $2500 tuition.

Of all the years of therapies, doctors, worry and tears we are at a place that feels right.  Call it “Mama Gut” but I know the journey we are on is the right one.  The options along the way are amazing and Diego’s potential is endless.  Thanks for visiting!book worm
